Institutional trading systems and OMS/EMS integration
We build, integrate and customise the order and execution systems that institutional desks run on, on the platforms you already use, to your exact specification. You own the mandate and every decision. We are the engineering team behind the system.
What we build for institutional desks
- OMS / EMS integration and customisation. Connecting your order and execution management systems to new venues, brokers and data, adding bespoke logic, reports and workflows, and making the pieces talk to each other reliably.
- FIX connectivity. New broker and venue sessions, drop-copy, order and execution reports, and the certification work that goes with them. FIX is our native language for institutional connectivity.
- Execution and smart order routing. The engineering behind how an order is worked in the market, across multiple venues, accounts and asset classes, the same integration engineering we do everywhere, at institutional standards.
- Front-to-back reliability. Clean data pipelines, reconciliation, monitoring and a full audit trail from a post-trade record back to the raw input, the unglamorous work institutional use actually demands.
The trade lifecycle, front to back
Institutional trading is a chain, and each link has to be built and connected properly. This is the shape of it, and the parts we build and integrate for you.
Platforms we have built on
We have developed and delivered production software on institutional OMS/EMS platforms, and we speak FIX natively. Where we have only done a proof-of-concept, we label it that way.
Why desks bring this to us
Standing up a full trading-systems engineering team is slow and expensive, and institutional integration work is a specialist skill. A vendor who already has the OMS/EMS, FIX and front-to-back experience lets you move faster and stay lean, while the licence, the mandate and every decision stay entirely your own. It is the model established firms already run internally; we provide it under contract. You can see the depth in our enterprise data-platform case study.
Trade Vectors is a technology vendor. We build and integrate trading systems to your specification. We hold no licence, manage no funds, make no trading decisions, and give no investment advice. The mandate and every decision remain with you, the regulated firm, and our fee is fixed and never tied to performance or assets.
Common questions
- What is the difference between an OMS and an EMS, and do you work on both?
- An OMS (order management system) is where orders originate and are managed: allocations, positions, pre-trade compliance and the record of the order lifecycle. An EMS (execution management system) is the front end that actually works the order in the market: routing, algorithms and smart order routing across venues. Many desks run both, sometimes as one combined platform. We build and integrate on both sides, and we connect them.
- Do you customise our existing OMS/EMS, or build new?
- Both. Most institutional work is integration and customisation: connecting your OMS/EMS to new venues, brokers or data, adding FIX sessions, building bespoke logic or reports, and making the pieces talk to each other reliably. Where a desk needs something a platform does not do, we build it. We are honest about which path is cheaper for your case.
- Do you work with FIX and vendor platforms?
- Yes. FIX is our native language for institutional connectivity, and we have built and delivered on platforms including FlexTrade, Charles River and Symphony XTS, and worked with Omnesys/NEST. Where we have only done a proof-of-concept rather than shipped production work, we say so plainly.
- Are you regulated? Do you make trading decisions or hold funds?
- No. We are a technology vendor. We build and integrate systems to your specification. We never make trading decisions, never manage or hold client money, and give no investment advice. The licence, the mandate and every decision stay with you, the regulated firm.
- How are you paid, and do you handle due diligence?
- A fixed fee for the engineering work, never tied to performance or assets. We sign NDAs as standard and welcome vendor due diligence: data security, business continuity, key-person risk, subcontracting and confidentiality. Being ready to answer those well is part of the job.
